Japan’s ANA pledges to go carbon neutral by 2050
Japan’s ANA Holdings is the latest aviation group to commit to a carbon neutral business by 2050. It will achieve this by implementing new technology, emissions trading and other efforts such as using more sustainable aviation fuel.
It comes after Japan Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga announced Japan is targeting a 46% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.
Last year ANA set a goal to halve carbon emissions by 2050 compared with 2005 levels. Airlines across Europe, the US and to a lesser extent in Asia, have made similar commitments.
