Jet Airways teams up with Aeromexico for codeshare alliance
Indian carrier Jet Airways has signed a codeshare partnership with Aeromexico to offer through ticketing on services and share reciprocal frequent flyer benefits.
To kick it off, Jet Airways will place its code ‘9W’ code on Aeromexico flights from London Heathrow to Mexico City, and in turn, Aeromexico offers through ticketing from London Heathrow to Mumbai and Delhi via Jet Airways’ flights.
A MoU was signed at the IATA airline meeting in Cancun, Mexico.
"We are delighted to announce our partnership with Aeromexico which will significantly enhance the international reach of both airlines bringing increased benefits to all our guests. We are confident that this new codeshare partnership will stimulate the demand for business and tourist travel between India and Mexico," said Jet Airways CEO and chairman Naresh Goyal.
Still subject to regulatory approval, the two airlines will allow their customers to earn frequent flyer points for bookings made on each other’s airline.
"It is a great pleasure for us to settle this code share partnership with Jet Airways that will build new bridges and connect Mexico to India more easily." This achievement is a manifest of our will to continuously offer new flight destinations to our passengers," said Aeromexico chief executive officer Andres Conesa.
