Jet Airways withdraws lounge access for loyalty members flying economy
Cash-strapped Jet Airways has revised lounge access, temporarily suspending access for members travelling on economy tickets.
With effect from December 1, only business and first class passengers will get complementary access.
Currently JetPrivilege Platinum and Gold members travelling on economy may access the lounge.
The move comes as the airline continues to struggle with cash flow.
The service provider of the lounge at Mumbai Airport discontinued the service for Jet Airways passengers as the airline failed to pay outstanding bills.
"In view of this extremely challenging operating environment we have had to take some unprecedented steps," it said in a communication to customers.
The airline recently posted its third successive quarterly loss and is in ‘active discussions’ to secure additional funding to stay afloat, said CEO Vinay Dube.
While Tata Sons is still keen on acquiring the airline, existing investor Etihad Airways may increase its current stake.
