Jet2.com launches Blackpool flights
Budget carrier Jet2.com is to start flights from Blackpool in November.
The airline is to serve Belfast, Murcia and Palma from the airport in a move that is expected to create 50 jobs.
At least one 148-seat Boeing 737 is to be based at Blackpool in the first stage of an expansion policy by the carrier which already operates from Leeds-Bradford, Manchester, Newcastle and Belfast International.
Belfast flights start on November 4 with four flights a week. Fares start at £9 one way.
The two Spanish routes will be added next April with single fares starting at £29.
The airline’s boss Philip Meeson said: “At the same time as tapping into the domestic market, we’re not underestimating the value of inbound tourism. Blackpool is fast regaining its reputation as a leading destination and the investment the town is experiencing in the likes of the new Festival of Lights concept can only help to raise Blackpool’s profile overseas.”
