Jetstar ditching Melbourne-Wellington flights

Saturday, 04 Jan, 2017 0
Budget carrier Jetstar Airways is axing its four times a week service linking Melbourne and Wellington.

It has failed to meet expectations despite the airline’s efforts to promote the route, Jetstar said.

"We launched our direct Melbourne-Wellington service nearly two years ago, however, despite continued efforts by Jetstar and local partners to promote the flights, we haven’t seen the passenger demand we’d hoped for," a spokesman said.

The route will end on March 1. 2017.

For customers with confirmed bookings after this date, the airline will offer alternative options to fly via Auckland or Christchurch, or receive a full refund.

Jetstar’s existing service between Wellington and the Gold Coast, which operates three times a week, will continue as normal.
