Jetstar launching Tasmania flights from Adelaide

Saturday, 09 Aug, 2017 0

Budget carrier Jetstar has announced a new route linking Adelaide with Hobart, Tasmania.

It is the first direct flights between the two cities for nearly seven years, since Tiger Airways pulled out in 2010.

Jetstar will fly the route three times a week on 180-seat Airbus A320s starting on November 14.

"Thousands of travellers already fly from Hobart to Adelaide via Melbourne, so we are excited to offer direct low fares between the two cities, making it even easier to travel," Jetstar Group chief commercial officer, Catriona Larritt, said in a statement.

"Both Hobart and Adelaide are experiencing record tourism numbers, and we expect inbound tourism to the two cities to further strengthen with the addition of our new direct flights."

Adelaide becomes the fifth destination out of Hobart for Jetstar and Adelaide Airport managing director Mark Young says Hobart is largest unserved market from the airport.
