Jetstar regrets to announce another delay
Jetstar has the worst on-time performance in Australia’s domestic skies.
Almost one in four Jetstar domestic flights did not depart on time in the past year, making it the worst airline in Australia for late-running planes.
Qantas was the best for on-time arrivals and departures for the fourth year in a row, according to a report from the Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport and Regional Economics.
Virgin Australia was the second best on-time performer, followed by Tiger Airways, then Jetstar.
A Jetstar spokesman said the low-cost airline was working to improve punctuality because "our on-time performance is not where we would expect it to be".
Nearly 85% of Qantas flights left on time, 81% of Virgin flights, 80% of Tiger flights and 76% of Jetstar flights.
Regional Express was the best regional airline with 86% of planes leaving on time, followed by Virgin with 82%, QantasLink with 79% and SkyWest with 77%.
Overall, less than two per cent of scheduled flights were cancelled, with QantasLink and Virgin Australia’s regional network suffering the most cancellations.
Cancellations were highest on the West Australian route from Karratha to Perth.
