Jetstar seat free for all is over!
Good news for Jetstar passengers was announced yesterday, when the Qantas owned low cost carrier announced that its planned introduction of allocated seating on October 29 will be introduced earlier, from right now!
Jetstar has been able to undertaken the earlier introduction due to changes to its booking system being implemented earlier than expected.
A backlash from disgruntled passengers led the carrier to scrap its free-for-all seating policy on domestic flights and customers can now choose their seat when booking on the airline’s website or by phone.
Alan Joyce Jetstar’s CEO said yesterday, “The new seating policy will not lead to higher fares and Jetstar remains committed to offering low fares in the markets we serve.” He added, “Customers, including Qantas codeshare passengers who do not pre-select their seat prior to the day of flying will be allocated a seat at time of check-in for the flight.”
Jetstar’s strict 30-minute check-in deadline will not change.
Allocated seating, already applies to Jetstar’s New Zealand flights and international services starting soon.
