Jetstar throws down the Tiger gauntlet.
In a report on ABC today, low cost carrier, Jetstar says it is intrigued as to why so many regional Queensland cities are clamouring to attract budget carrier Tiger Airlines to their port, with civic leaders from Townsville, Mackay and Rockhampton all having expressed interest in Tiger Airlines.
Jetstar spokesman Simon Westaway says the company would embrace the competition if Tiger came in to the market, adding, “We find it intriguing that some of the fundamentals of that airline continue to be talked up and other aspects continue to be not, sort of glossed over, in respect to the operating performance of that airline in other parts of the world.”
He added, throwing down the gauntlet, “But we will compete vigorously if they enter a market that we currently fly upon.”
