Additional jobs are being created by travel software specialist Multicom on thre back of increased business.
The company created 16 roles this year to bring staff numbers up to 50 and expects to add a further eight at its Bristol base over the next six months.
The expansion follows a rise in bookings of almost 50%, far in excess of the estimated 9.5% growth in the UK online travel market for 2009.
The growth has been built on the development of the company’s internet-based search and booking system “FindandBook” (FAB) which is now used by more than half of UK travel agents.
Multicom forecasts that FAB will have processed more than 150 million searches a month with bookings of more than 2.5 million passengers in 2009.
Managing director John Howell said: “The increase in bookings of almost 50% has increased demand for our products and services which in turn has led to the creation of 16 new posts, which is evidence that our ambitious growth plans are on track despite the recession.
“However, we will not be sitting on our laurels and plan to continue to invest in research and development to ensure FAB maintains its edge and Multicom retains its advantage with the introduction of new products the market demands"
