Jongleurs takes to the seas
Comedy club Jongleurs is setting sail on board Island Cruises next year.
The cruise line has signed an exclusive deal to have Jongleurs on board its ship Island Star from May 3 to September 27, 2008.
Each week three comedians will appear twice a week in a club on the ship in addition to a main theatre appearance.
Comedy ‘masterclasses’ will be run, showing passengers how to write and perform stand-upcomedy.
The line plans a trade launch event for 200 travel agents in Battersea, London, in June.
The addition of Jongleurs to one of Island Cruises’ two ships came with the release of the company’s summer 2008 brochure which includes free all-inclusive upgrades on the Island Excape for bookings made by July 31. Half price premium cabin upgrades are also available for early bookings on Island Star.
The programme leads in at £549 per person based on two sharing an inside cabin on a seven-night Mediterranean fly-cruise on Island Star on April 4, 2008. Prices for a family of four start at £1,612, based on children aged between two and 12 for an October 2008 departure.
Meanwhile, Island Cruises has introduced a dedicated trade hotline on 1061-722-8610 as part of a change of all 0870 prefixed telephone numbers to 0161.
Sales director Leslie Peden said: “There has been a lot of negative press surrounding premium rate numbers and therefore Island Cruises took the initiative to move away from the 0870 number as soon as possible.
“Following through research into to all of our options, we decided to go for a regional prefix, for which the cost to callers would be transparent and included within most free minutes call plan packages.”
