A ceremony to mark the keel laying of Oceania Cruises’ new ship Marina has been held at a ship yard in Italy.
The luxury line is due to take delivery of the 1,252-passenger ship in 2010, bringing the fleet up to four vessels, with a fifth due in 2011.
The new ships will have a cruising speed 20% faster than the line’s existing Regatta-class vessels.
Marina will have 626 cabins and suites, with 96% of accommodation featuring private teak balconies.
The ship, the first in a new Oceania class, will include six restaurants and carry 780 staff.
Additional details on Marina’s suites and cabins, restaurants, guest facilities and itineraries will be released in the coming months, the company said.
