Kempinski makes Board changes
Kempinski Hotels has shaken up its Board to help lead ‘Europe’s oldest luxury hotel group into the future’.
Led by chairman and CEO Markus Semer, the changes follow a ‘critical review’ of the 120-year-old group and the decision of former COO Marcus van der Wal to leave the company.
Bernold Schroeder joins the executive team as COO Europe. He was previously CEO of the Asia-based Pan Pacific Hotels.
Announcing the changes, Semer said: "We are in a unique position in the industry to remain an independent European luxury hotel operator with the full support of our shareholders toward this long-term strategy, and as we move now into the future with the leadership of this committed executive team, we have all the ingredients to ensure that Kempinski continues to evolve with our guests and set new standards in luxury hospitality for many years to come."
Members of the new Kempinski Management Board also include chief financial officer Colin Lubbe, COO Asia Michael Henssler, COO Middle East and Africa Henk Meyknecht, COO Americas Xavier Destribats, senior VP business development Amanda Elder, senior VP development Mike Haemmerli, and senior VP human resources Marina Zapp.
