KENYA SAFARIS CONTINUE
Australians holidaying in Kenya are not being affected by political unrest in parts of the country and are continuing their safari itineraries, according to leading Kenyan tour operator Southern Cross Safaris and its Australian partner Bench International.
Southern Cross managing director Torben Rune said today, “We are still operating daily departures of our safaris to Satao Camp in Tsavo East and Satao Rock in Taita, and our one week regular departure safari to other regions also continues to operate.
“Any safaris planned to go to Western Kenya have either been cancelled or re routed until we feel the area is once again safe.”
Mr Rune said that after the discussions between South Africa’s Bishop Desmond Tutu and the two parties it appears that a resolution may be on the table.
He added that both parties have agreed they do not want this violence and are willing to start a process of negotiation to try and find a resolution quickly.
In Sydney, Bench International chairman, Charles Bench said that travellers scheduled to depart Australia for East Africa can make variations to their itineraries without penalty.
He added that agent enquiry for the destination and neighbouring Tanzania was continuing at its normal rate.
