Kiwi Travel agents hear nothing from new airline
Kiwi Travel agents want the mystery man behind a supposed new airline to front up with Lamar Hargreaves announcing this week that he would launch a Nelson-based domestic airline, Kiwi Pacific, next month.
However, NZ Travel Agents Association CEO Paul Yeo told www.stuff.co.nz yesterday the industry had had no communication from Hargreaves, adding, “While Nelson is a potentially viable market, this is an odd way of approaching it,” adding “I think we all have to be a little wary unless some detail comes out, as anyone who talks about setting up an airline has to have a lot of backing.”
Nelson-based travel agents had not heard from Hargreaves, with Jeff Leckey, Orbit Travel owner operator and House of Travel Nelson Manager saying, “He hasn’t been in touch with the Nelson industry.”
Hargreaves failed to return calls for a second day and he had said he was the owner of internet company Supra, however, a visit to the registered company address revealed he had not been a tenant for the past year.
The Companies Office confirmed the Kiwi Pacific name is reserved but not incorporated.
