KLM cuts European fares

Wednesday, 08 Jul, 2002 0

KLM is the latest airline to cut ticket prices and simplify its fare structure in a bid to compete with the no-frills sector.

From next Monday (July 15) KLM will reduce the range of fares per destination from 25 to a maximum of eight. The new structure, which only applies on flights out of the Netherlands, is for all the carrier’s 66 European destinations.

Economy class fares to 13 European destinations including Geneva, London Heathrow, London Stansted, Manchester and Lisbon will be cut by up to 40%. In addition fares on a further seven European routes will be reduced later in the year.

KLM will also introduce a maximum of three different leisure fares per destination. The cheapest fare must be booked at least 14 days before departure, the mid price ticket must be booked at least seven days in advance, and the most expensive fare will apply for flights booked within three days of departure. All of the leisure fares require a minimum stay of three days or a Saturday night.
