Korean Air eyes Central Asia
HONG KONG – Korean Air is reaching into the Central Asia region through a cooperative relationship with Uzbekistan Airways.
The two companies intend jointly to participate in the construction of an international logistics centre at Navoi International Airport.
They will also seek Uzbekistan Airways’ associate membership in SkyTeam and support an increase in air travel capacity between Korea and Uzbekistan.
The building of an international logistics centre based in Navoi airport is rooted in the Uzbekistan government’s long-term plan to make the airport a transcontinental hub.
For the logistics centre, Korean Air will provide technical support and know-how for the operation, as well as sales support for Uzbekistan Airways.
Uzbekistan Airways, in turn, has agreed to assist in procuring necessary approvals and funds to develop the infrastructure at Navoi.
