LA Airport reopens after fatal Friday shooting
Los Angeles International Airport fought its way back to normal yesterday, after a shootout between police and a gunman shut down the airport on Friday, disrupting the weekend plans of thousands of global travelers.
The shooting left Transportation Safety Administration agent Gerardo Hernandez dead and three others injured.
He is the first TSA agent ever to be killed in the line of duty.
The Wall Street Journal said 1,550 flights and 167,050 passengers were affected by the airport’s closing.
The shooter, 23-year-old Paul Anthony Ciancia, is in critical condition and "unresponsive" in an LA hospital.
But he was carrying a handwritten note admitting he wanted to kill TSA officers.
