Landing at a venue near you: Pam Am
Pam Am, a creation of comedienne Caroline Reid, is performing in Australia this month.
In a Q&A with Jetstar inflight magazine, Reid gives us a taste of what’s in store for her audiences during her Aussie Layover Tour.
On boarding passengers
Sometimes I taser Economy Class passengers to hurry them up when boarding, they’re so slow and carry far too much luggage.
If you’re lucky enough to be flying Pam Am Airlines you’ll be taken back to the Golden Age of flying, the days when boarding a Boeing meant, style, class and glamour.
During the flight, I’ll be roasting every airline there is to roast Down Under – no one and no airline will be safe, trust me.
How long does it take Pam Am to get ready for work, and what does she look forward to when she gets there?
Just like Eleanor Rigby, I leave my face in a jar by the door! So I’m ready to fly in seconds, but I never forget to touch up before touching down.
I look forward to lunch and dread the thought of sniffer dogs on arrival.
Best bit about being a 60s air hostess?
We carved a chateaubriand with an electric knife, served Beluga caviar out of ice sculptures, handed out cigarettes on boarding, and there were table lighters in the seat arms. Passengers could carry a whole can of hairspray through security.
Pam Am live – Aussie Layover will be touring Adelaide (August 5, www.venuetix.com); Melbourne August 6-7 (www.ticketmaster.com.au); Brisbane (August 12-14, wwww.brisbanepowerhouse.com); Perth (August 17 www.bocsticketing.com.au); and Sydney (August 20-21, www.ticketmaster.com.au)
