Australia’s largest online travel agency, Webjet Marketing North America LLC, officially announced its long-rumored expansion to the US, opening an office in Tampa’s historic Hyde Park district.

“Using the experience of over 10 years in the online travel business and a substantial investment from its major shareholder which is publicly traded on Australia’s Stock Exchange (ASX), Webjet.com has ambitious goals to become a major player in the online travel market,” the company says.

Webjet.com CEO, Mathias Friess, a former senior executive of Virgin Blue Group and Lufthansa German Airlines said:

“We help U.S. travelers navigate through the jungle of international airfares to find the best deals. Australians are very savvy international travelers and we know that booking international travel can be very complicated, so our international experience will serve the US market very well.”

In addition to providing the cheapest airfares available, Webjet.com also offers car and hotel online bookings.

One of the unique elements of Webjet.com is its “StayThenPay” hotel feature which gives customers maximum flexibility when planning their accommodations, both domestically and internationally. For a $10 booking fee, customers can simply select a room in one of the tens of thousands of hotels worldwide featured on webjet.com and pay the hotel at the end of the stay.

If customers change their mind and need to cancel the hotel before arrival, Webjet cancels the reservation free of charge.
