Lastminute keeps on track with latest initiative
Lastminute.com customers will be able to book all available train tickets retailed on rail website thetrainline.com thanks to a new agreement between the two companies.
The online retailer has teamed up with thetrainline – the trading name for Trainline.com – to
cross-promote hotel and train bookings.
The deal sees the UK rail supplier expand its product range to include lastminute’s online hotel portfolio. When a customer books a ticket with thetrainline they will be asked if they also require a hotel room. Customers interested in booking a hotel will be presented with a number of relevant offers. If a lastminute.com hotel is selected, they will then be forwarded to lastminute.com’s website to carry out their transaction.
lastminute.com chief executive Brent Hoberman said: “lastminute.com and thetrainline are two of the most popular leisure websites in the UK, and offer complimentary products, so customers using either website will benefit. We will look to increase the offer of lastminute.com products on thetrainline in the future.”
Trainline.com is jointly owned by Virgin Group Investments and Stagecoach. It provides access to timetables, fares, reservations and tickets through its internet site and two call centres.
