Lawsuit seeks money from Studio 54 founder

Saturday, 18 Jan, 2006 0

A multi-million dollar lawsuit was filed against the former Studio 54 owner alleging he stole money from a hotel he managed to give to a nearby hotel he owned.

The $15 million lawsuit was filed by the Shore Club Hotel in Miami accusing Ian Schrager and his Morgans Hotel Group Management of siphoning money to benefit the Delano Hotel, also in Miami Beach.

Keith Pattiz, a lawyer for Morgans and Schrager, did not return telephone calls to the Associated Press.

Mr Schrager is perhaps best known for founding New York’s Studio 54 during the heyday of disco.

The club opened in 1977. Mr Schrager and Steve Rubell’s night club soon attracted some of the best known celebrities in New York.
