Leger installs Skype to enable free calls
Leger Holidays claims to be the first UK tour operator to install Skype on its website to enable agents make calls for free.
The voice communication system using an internet connection can be downloaded directly from the operator’s website.
Once installed users can call Leger or other Skype users around the world for free via voice or as an instant messenger service.
It will also mean agents and customers can have cheap calls to non-Skype users, according to the escorted tours specialist.
Skype claims more than 54 million users worldwide covering 225 countries, and growing daily by 150,000 members.
Leger’s web development manager Michael Rhodes said: “The key benefit of Skype is the significant cost saving for both us and agents, as all the Skype-to-Skype calls made are free, making it easier for people to get in touch.
“We are also hoping to roll out Skype across the whole company, making both internal and external calls to suppliers with Skype free of charge, and making another big financial saving.”
