Less paper with Amadeus

Amadeus has expanded its e-ticketing capabilities for agents in the UK.

From today UK travel agents using Amadeus will be able to interline e-tickets for four US airlines:

  • Continental Airlines and American Airlines
  • United Airlines and American Airlines
  • United Airlines and Northwest Airlines
  • American Airlines and Northwest Airlines

Amadeus’ marketing analyst, Rob Golledge, told TravelMole: “Using electronic tickets will lower costs for travel agents, save time and eliminate problems arising from lost, stolen or damaged tickets. Now agents don’t have to worry about booking itineraries that are part e-ticket and part paper ticket, which is very messy”.

Amadeus has also added Qualiflyer Group carriers, so agents will be able to allocate e-tickets for Swiss International Air Lines and Brussels Airlines. The GDS firm now claims to have interlining e-ticket capabilities with more airlines than any other GDS in the UK.

Amadeus director of sales UK, Peter Cacioppo, said: “Up to now, one of the key e-ticketing challenges has been the lack of interlining which has meant that passengers have been restricted to the same airline for all their flights, which is a distinct disadvantage for business travellers”.

In addition to the carriers mentioned above, Amadeus offers interline capabilities for e-tickets with:

  • Lufthansa and SAS
  • United Airlines and Continental
