The Australian federal government has allocated A$3 million to support the Netball World Cup 2015 in Sydney.

The brand launch in Sydney next Tuesday (Nov 12) will be MC’d by former Australian netball player, Liz Ellis, and include president of the International Netball Federation, Molly Rhone, and representatives of the world’s top six netball nations: Australia, New Zealand, England, Jamaica, South Africa and Malawi.

Netball World Cup 2015 will be held from August 9-16. Held every four years, NWC features the world’s top 16 teams.

The last World Championship held in Australia was in 1991, also in Sydney, when Australia defeated New Zealand 53-52 in the grand final.

Allphones Arena, the Sydney Olympic Park venue that will host the 2015 championship, holds the world record netball crowd of 14,339 for an Australia-New Zealand Test match in November 2004.
