London City gets more ePassport gates
London City Airport has installed five more ePassport gates, almost doubling capacity at passport control.
They have been installed in the immigration hall at London City alongside the six existing manual desks staffed by Border Force officers.
The automated ePassport gates are for EEA nationals aged 18 and over and travelling using a biometric passport.
They use facial recognition technology to check identity in a matter of seconds.
Any travellers rejected by the gates are directed to the normal clearance desk.
More gates will be rolled out across UK airports, rail and sea ports.
