Lowcost Travel on acquisition trail
Lowcost Travel Group has sold transfer business Resorthoppa to A2B Transfers as part of its focus on core business.
Chief operating officer Lawrence Hunt of Lowcostholidays.com said there were no plans to dispose of any other parts of the business.
But he added that Lowcost was always looking to make acquisitions at the right price in the long haul or ski market to complement their beach and city product.
Hunt said: "We decided in April that we should be focusing on our core business.
"This allows us to set Hoppa free so that someone can concentrate on growing it. We think there’s a huge opportunity for a global provider – the transfer market is a very fragmented market at the moment."
The new combined transfer business led by Renaldo Scheepers is to retain both brands A2B Transfers and Resorthoppa which has a strong trade and direct business.
The Lowcost Travel Group will continue to work with Resorthoppa, selling all its products online as well as being their exclusive agent across international markets for the next three years.
Paul Evans, CEO of the Lowcost Travel Group said: "This deal is part of our broader restructuring programme to rationalise and simplify our business, and to focus on our core hotels and holidays business across Europe that is growing very nicely."
Renaldo Scheepers, CEO of A2B Transfers said: "We are delighted with this merger which will help us to consolidate our position as the market leader in transfers across Europe, and we intend to work closely with the Lowcost Travel Group, and indeed all trade partners to supply seamless transfers for their customers."
