Luton Airport is bottom of flight punctuality table
London Luton Airport has come out worst in a study of average flight delays at UK airports.
According to analysis of CAA figures by the Press Association, flights at Luton were delayed by an average of 19.7 minutes, longer than any other UK airport last year.
London Gatwick, Jersey and Durham Tees Valley were the next worst.
At the other end of the scale, the top performers were Heathrow, with average 11-minute delays, followed by Leeds Bradford, Belfast City and London City.
The study looked at scheduled and charter flights from the 25 busiest UK airports, but excluded cancelled flights.
On average across all airports, flights left an average of 15 minutes late.
A spokeswoman for London Luton blamed factors outside its control, including air traffic control strikes, late arriving aircraft, bad weather and congested airspace.
