Luton-Lahore air link planned
A connection between Luton airport and Lahore in Pakistan is to be offered from next week.
Swedish carrier SWE FLY is to provide the connection via Stockholm’s Skavsta airport.
Flights are to operate three times a week from June 17 with fares starting at £351 return including tax.
Passengers will fly to Stockholm before transferring onto a widebody Boeing 767 for the onward flight to Pakistan.
The “long haul/low cost” service has been welcomed by Luton airport bosses, claiming the initiative marks a “new era in travel”.
Airport managing director Paul Kehoe said: “SWE Fly is offering a keenly priced long haul service which will appeal to many different types of traveller. This route will attract not only the buisness community but also people wishing to visit friends and relations and independent leisure travellers looking for new and exciting destinations to explore.”
