Luxury Bale Resort closes its doors
Bale Resort in Port Douglas, one of Tropical North Queensland’s (TNQ) most upmarket resorts, has closed its doors.

Port Douglas Resorts Pty Ltd, owner of the management rights at the Bale Resort, has blamed financial constraints.
The Mantra Group, which owns the Bale trademark, said it had no financial interest or control within Port Douglas Resorts Pty Ltd.

Mantra said it is currently relocating guests to other properties within the portfolio.

“We are contacting all guests with forward bookings and presenting a number of options to them about their preferred options for their holiday plans,â€â€¨â€¨ Mantra said in a statement.
Local media report that high vacancy rates and a considerable drop in tourist numbers are putting accommodation providers in TNQ under financial pressure
Mantra Group said it had worked closely with Port Douglas Resorts without remuneration for the last 12 months in an attempt to avoid the closure of Bale Resort.
