Macau to resume tours after tropical storms
Still in the process of cleaning up after the deluge of back to back tropical storms, Macau will resume group tours this weekend.
Group tours will restart on September 2 after detailed discussions between all relevant tourism stakeholders this week.
Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) held talks with travel agent and hotel industry trade associations.
It found that most hotels now have water and power supplies back and tourist attractions remain largely unaffected.
Initial storm Hato was the most severe storm to hit Macau for about 50 years, reaching wind speeds of more than 200 km per hour.
Since the storms, MGTO inspectors have been monitoring clean-up efforts daily.
Tourism officials have contacted their counterparts at the China National Tourism Administration and in Hong Kong to announce the resumption of tours.
MGTO took the step to suspend tours after various roads and public facilities saw some damage and seaports were closed.
