Magic Johnson takes a shot with travel agency
Magic Johnson Enterprises said it has launched Magic Johnson Travel Group, Monday, and plans to headquarter the multicultural, home-based travel agent initiative and franchise network in Miami reported the South Florida Business Journal.
The company is to specifically target African-American, Hispanic and Asian- American franchisees and customers. MagicJohnsonTG said it aims to cultivate organic growth in the minority travel segment and incite entrepreneurs from Urban America.
For the MagicJohnsonTG initiative, Magic Johnson Enterprises is working with CruiseShipCenters, GOGO Worldwide Vacations and Royal Caribbean International.
The company’s franchises are to consist of an integrated agent desktop with a customizable agent-level Web site, contact management database and e-marketing suite. Permission-based marketing is to be the key component of the software.
The franchise is also to include a complete training program, including 40 hours of correspondence coursework, one week of on-site introductory training and one week of advanced training onboard a Royal Caribbean ship.
The cruise category is to be the first product on which sellers are to be trained and certified.
Future training is to include modules for other products, including all-inclusive and vacation packages.
Additionally, Magic Johnson Enterprises said existing agents purchasing a franchise will receive the ability to sell every product – including air, car, hotel, all-inclusive and charters – in the coming months.
