Major convention hotel activity in Irving
Two major hotels in Irving, Texas — which positions itself as a convention destination half way between Dallas and Fort Worth — are nearing their completion of major expansions.
Irving’s largest property, the 506-room Harvey Hotel DFW Airport, is finishing a $25 million makeover. It is also getting a new flag, as a Westin. The facility has 37,000 square feet of meeting space.
The 357-room Four Seasons Resort and Club Las Colinas is also near completion of a multi-million dollar expansion. Forty new guest villas are being added. The hotel is the state’s only AAA Five Diamond hotel. It has 30,000 square feet of conference space that has been redesigned with new art, carpeting, wood paneling and light fixtures.
Irving has 75 hotels with 11,000 rooms. A dozen full-service hotels provide more than 200,000 square feet of meeting space.
One of the more unusual meeting spaces available is Texas Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. The city has a variety of sports attractions, including being the site of the PGA Tour’s Byron Nelson
Championship.
Irvine is about a 15-minute drive to Dallas and 20 minutes to Fort Worth.
