MakeMyTrip launches Indian language train booking app
Indian online travel giant MakeMyTrip has launched a new train ticket booking app offering localisation in all major Indian languages.
In addition to English, bookings can be made in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malyalam and Gujarati.
The company claims this is a first of its kind for rail bookings.
"We are committed to using technology to make the travel urchase experience more convenient for travellers. Customised content, in language of preference, is the next tep towards creating customer delight through technology," said Anshuman Bapna, chief product officer.
"Continuing with our mobile-first approach, we have introduced these features on the mobile app to reach out to a larger majority of travellers for who mobile is now the preferred device to search, plan and book travel."
The apps enable customers to book one-way and return journeys, fare details, seat and sleeper berth availability and alternative routes for trip planning.
MakeMyTrip first launched online rail bookings last year and was quickly followed by rival OTA Yatra.
