MakeMyTrip ties up with Travelport
India’s top online travel agency MakeMyTrip is joining Travelport’s Travel Commerce Platform.
MakeMyTrip’s inventory will be connected to Travelport via the latter’s distributor for India, InterGlobe Technology Quotient.
The agreement lets MakeMyTrip expand the use of Travelport’s technology, including the Ibibo group, recently acquired by MakeMyTrip, to its other primary distribution channels, the firms said.
"We are very excited about the partnership with Travelport. Our partnership with Trvaelport stands out for what we want to offer to our customers," MakeMyTrip founder and CEO Deep Kalra said.
MakeMyTrip brand websites receive about one million customer enquiries a day and serves over 40 million active users via its mobile app each month.
It lists more than half a million hotels in India and globally.
"India is a market with enormous growth potential where Travelport, working with our distributor ITQ, has grown in air booking terms by 14% in the first half of 2017 when the GDS air market has grown by 11%. Securing a partnership with the leading online travel agency in the market, with a high growth profile and tremendous track record, gives even further impetus to our plans in the country," said Travelport CEO Gordon Wilson.
