Malaysia Airlines in talks to sell Airbus A380 jets

Malaysia Airlines is negotiating with China and other Southeast Asian carriers over offloading its fleet of six Airbus A380 jets.
Malaysia Air has scrapped most long haul routes and no longer has use for the superjumbo, CEO Peter Bellew said.
Bellew said the airline is also in talks with Airbus to add another 90 seats to the 494 seat planes to add more value ahead of a sale.
Malaysia Air will become the first customer to stop flying the jet, which launched in 2007.
Regarding its renewed focus on regional routes, Bellew said the airline is discussing up to 15 new services in East Asia.
It is in talks to add routes to China, Japan and South Korea.
Up to six of those will likely be rubber stamped soon and could be announced next month, Bellew said.
"There’s really an atmosphere of positivity around the airline again. We want to show the world that we’re back in business."
