Saturday, 12 Jul, 2020 0

Malaysia Airlines and Japan Airlines have officially unveiled their planned joint business venture between the two countries.

It launches on July 25 as Malaysia Airlines resumes flights to Japan this month.

The airlines will offer four weekly flights between Kuala Lumpur and Tokyo Narita in July and August.

Since agreeing to the JV the airlines have modified their joint operations due to the ‘new normal’ conditions.

Malaysia Airlines group CEO Captain Izham Ismail is pleased the joint business is ‘finally taking off after a few months of delay.’

"Malaysia Airlines and Japan Airlines play a crucial role in reviving the economy and we are confident that this synergy will facilitate commerce, trade and boost tourism."

The JV agreement will see cooperation on codesharing, scheduling, ,marketing and some operational functions.

Izham hope a ‘travel bubble’ will be opened between the two countries to boost traffic.

Both Malaysia Airlines and JAL are members of the Oneworld airlines alliance
