Mall of America celebrates 25th birthday
Tomorrow August 11, iconic retail destination Mall of America officially celebrates its 25th birthday.
It caps a 25-week celebration which began in February and will feature two fun world record attempts: for the most conical birthday hats worn and another for the most cupcakes decorated at the same time.
There will be prize giveaways up for grabs, birthday cupcakes and live entertainment throughout the day.
"The vision for Mall of America has always been more than a shopping center, it’s the intersection of the best in retail, entertainment and dining, and above all, a place for friends and family to gather," said Jill Renslow, SVP of marketing and business development for Mall of America.
"We’ve been a leader in retail and entertainment for 25 years, and we’re looking forward to 25 more."
It is still the largest retail and entertainment destination of its kind in the US with 520 stores, a Nickelodeon Universe, the SEA LIFE Minnesota Aquarium and more than 50 dining options.
The Mall, located in Bloomington, Minnesota, generates an estimated $2 billion annually in economic impact for the state of Minnesota.
