Man caught with meat cleaver at airport
A man has reportedly been arrested after being caught carrying a meat cleaver at a British airport. According to the online news provider Ananova, the incident took place on Sunday afternoon at Humberside Airport, where the man was due to board a flight to Amsterdam. A spokeswoman for the airport reportedly said: “The man was stopped at our security searches and handed over immediately to the police. He was a passenger and had a boarding card, but as soon as he reached the security search area it was picked up on straight away.” The website reports that the incident comes just weeks after the airport’s security measures were criticised on a television programme. The BBC programme Inside Out showed a journalist and two cameramen moving, unimpeded, in the aircraft manoeuvring area for half an hour – until they were questioned by security staff. The journalist, Sophie Hull, reported that it was “surprisingly easy” to get into the airport.
