Man charged with flying drone near Heathrow
A man has been charged with flying a drone near Heathrow Airport on Christmas Eve last year.
George Rusu, aged 38, is accused of using a drone on a field near the runway at the UK’s busiest airport just days after several alleged sightings of drones close to Gatwick caused the airfield to close, grounding more than a thousand flights.
Rusu, from Hillingdon in west London, has been charged with flying a ‘small unmanned aircraft without permission of air traffic control’.
He will appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
