Man tries to steal jet at Texas airport
A man who crashed through security gates in a speeding car at a Texas airport was intent on stealing a private jet parked at the airport, police said.
The man, who has not been named, was ‘known to our department and has a history of mental issues,’ Waco police Sgt. Patrick Swanton said.
He may also have been under the influence of drugs, Swanton added.
The man crashed through a security barrier at Waco Regional Airport, and armed with a stick, tried to ‘remove the tire chocks and get into the jet.’
He was eventually subdued by an off-duty police officer and airport workers after he was ‘tazed several time with no effect,’ police said.
The man has been taken to hospital for a mental evaluation and is facing possible charges of criminal trespassing, attempted theft, resisting arrest and criminal mischief.
