Manchester grows more than any other UK airport
Manchester Airport saw greater growth than any other UK airport this summer, when it carried 1.27 million more passengers than during summer 2016.
According to CAA figures, Gatwick and Heathrow each carried 1.25 million more passengers from April to September than in the previous year.
Manchester said it handled 1.7 million passengers last month, 2% more than in November 2016, pushing its annual rolling total to 27.7 million, a rise of almost 10% year on year.
Top routes last month included Amsterdam, Dublin and Dubai.
The airport said growth had slowed in November due to the collapse of Monarch, which has left Manchester with spare capacity this winter.
However, it said it was confident that the slack would be taken up by other airlines by the start of summer 2018. Jet2, TUI and Thomas Cook have already increased their own capacity for next year.
