Marella names godmothers for new ship
Marella Cruises has named the two employees who will be godmothers to his newest and largest ship, Marella Explorer, continuing a tradition of inviting staff to take on the roles.
The cruise line said hotel operations manager Sue Stewart and TUI retail agent Mandy Galloway had been chosen for their ‘commitment to and passion for cruise, particularly around their focus and dedication to customer service’.
The ship, which was previously TUI’s Mein Schiff 1, will join the Marella fleet next month following a four-week stint in dry dock, during which she will undergo a multi-million pound makeover.
The 1,924-passenger 13-deck ship ship will have 962 cabins, 40% with balconies, and new features including Indigo, the ship’s flagship bar, club, casino and the first Champney’s Spa at sea.
Marella Discovery will be the sixth ship to join the Marella Cruises fleet, joining the Dream, Celebration, Discovery, Discovery 2 and Spirit. She will begin sailing this summer.
