Marriott appoints new CEO
Marriott International announced the appointment of Anthony Capuano as new CEO.
He was appointed following the recent unexpected passing of long time chief executive Arne Sorenson.
Capuano joins the Marriott board with immediate effect.
He was previously Group President, Global Development, Design And Operations Services.
Under his tenure the company more than doubled its global portfolio to more than 7,600 properties since 2009.
Capuano joined Marriott in 1995 and from 2005 to 2008, he was SVP of Full-Service Development for North America.
He became EVP and Global Chief Development Officer in 2009.
Capuano said he is ‘honored’ but it is a ‘bittersweet moment.’
In addition, Marriott also announced Stephanie Linnartz as new President with immediate effect.
She was previously Group President, Consumer Operations, Technology and Emerging Businesses.
