Marriott International has struck a partnership with Cruise Lines International Association offering CLIA-certified agents booking commissions and perks.

CLIA travel agency members will get commissions on qualified hotel bookings at Marriott’s 19 brands once they complete Marriott’s Hotel Excellence training program.

They will also have access to Marriott’s fam rates.

"At CLIA, we are always looking for new opportunities to enhance our travel agent member experience and this partnership will bring immeasurable value to our community," said Cindy D’Aoust, CLIA’s president and CEO.

"This new venture positively impacts the travel industry and further supports the important role travel professionals play."

The move puts Marriott in line with prospective merger partner Starwood Hotels & Resorts which already recognized CLIA members and pays commissions on bookings.

"Our partnership with CLIA underscores Marriott’s commitment to supporting and working with current and future generations of travel professionals," said Brian King, global officer, Marriott signature brands and global sales.
