MATCHhotels.com launches ‘unbundling’ services for football fans

Friday, 08 Aug, 2007 0

A travel company launched this week claiming it will help football fans reduce the cost of football travel packages.

MATCHhotels.com says it will unbundle football travel packages in the same way that the package holiday has been unbundled by no-frills airlines and accommodation-only hotel reservation companies.

Director Ben Jackson said: “Fans want to support their teams but escalating ticket prices and travel expenses do not add up financially for 90 short minutes of action.

“The few travel companies that offer football related services usually bundle match tickets and accommodation into an expensive package and cater almost exclusively to Premiership teams and international matches.

“This is fine for Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United fans on a lavish budget. Not so good for the vast majority of fans.”

The site helps fans locate accommodation near football stadiums on an interactive map, check availability and compare prices from several hotel reservations websites.
