Matthews admits his Christmas turkey and won’t gobble up bonus

BAA boss Colin Matthews has conceded that Heathrow was not properly prepared for the freezing weather and has given up his annual bonus.
Matthews told reporters that he would not be accepting the bonus – the amount of which has not been revealed. However, he will still get a second cash bonus in November 2012.
Matthews earns more than a million pounds a year.
The chief executive received much criticism this week when it was revealed by transport secretary Phillip Hammond that he had refused help from the army to remove snow and ice from runways at Heathrow.
It then emerged that Mr Matthews’ team at Heathrow had not bought enough de-icing fluid to keep his runways open.
Heathrow’s southern runway has now been reopened.
