Mediterranean Shipping Company cleans up……………
With European cruises previously challenging for non smoking Aussies and Kiwis because of the all pervading cigarette smoke, smokers on all MSC Cruises [MSC Armonia is pictured right] vessels are now only able to light up in the Cigar Room, the Casino and one dedicated lounge per ship.
This is great news for Australians who find the smoking habits of Europeans confronting after years of enjoying smoke-free restaurants at home.
The ruling is part of the line’s clean air policy aimed at allowing smokers and non-smokers to enjoy their cruise.
Emilio La Scala, General Manager, said, “MSC has eliminated smoking in all areas where non-smokers and smokers have previously shared the air”.
“We have assigned a few rooms where smokers are welcome, but the majority of indoor spaces are now non-smoking.”
“All cabins and balcony cabins have been declared smoke-free zones and outside passengers can only light up on one side of the sun deck.” “This means MSC’s ships are about 90 per cent smoke-free.”
