Meetings impact study transfers to Canadian body
The Meeting Professionals International Foundation Canada said it plans to transfer its Canadian Economic Impact Study (CEIS) to the Business Events Industry Coalition of Canada (BEICC).
CEIS is the first Canada-wide study that evaluates the impact of the meetings industry on the Canadian economy.
It monitors the meetings sector by applying World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) guidelines for the events industry.
The third edition of CEIS is to be published shortly and will for the first time detail economic impact of meetings at a provincial and local level as well as nationally.
The transition of the study will take place on April 10 at the National Meetings Industry Day in Canada, and MPI Foundation Canada will announce preliminary findings from the CEIS 3.0 report.
MPI Foundation Canada will take a seat on the BEICC board of directors to assist in a smooth ownership transition of the study.
All eight regional chapters of the MPI Foundation Canada will each host individual National Meetings Industry Day educational and networking events, highlighting the importance of the Canadian meetings industry to the wider business community.
Announcing a change of ownership of the CEIS study, CEO of MPI Paul Van Deventer said: "With its strong base of founding members, the BEICC is an exceptional organization poised to activate and elevate the study in-market."
