Melia adding five hotels in Asia
Spain based hospitality group Melia Hotels International is continuing its growth spurt in Asia with five new signings.
A new property has been signed in Shandong province under the Melia Hotels & Resorts brand.
Melia Xueye Lake will have 120 guestrooms and villas.
Located at Lake Xueye, the hotel is close to the existingl Melia Jinan in an area which has become a popular leisure destination.
Two new Thai hotels were recently signed – Melia Chiang Mai and INNSIDE Bangkok Sukhumvit in the Thai capital.
INNSIDE Bangkok Sukhumvit becomes the group’s second location in Bangkok and a brand debut in Thailand.
It is scheduled to open in 2021.
Gabriel Escarrer, EVP and CEO of Melia also introduced the upcoming Melia Ba Vi Mountain Retreat in Vietnam and Melia’s fifth hotel in Malaysia, Melia Bukit Tinggi which will open in 2022 with 219 guestrooms.
"The size of this market, the strong organic growth we are seeing in China and Southeast Asia, and the progressive growth in revenues in the region lead us to predict that in the medium term the region will make a contribution as important to company results as Cuba represented after its addition 30 years ago," Escarrer said.
Melia said it will likely announce the addition of more new hotel agreements in the region by the end of the year.
